Hello! My name is Patrick and I'm the creator of glucolist. I've been a type 1 diabetic for over 22 years and am a software engineer living in Silicon Valley.

I'm making glucolist because of three core beliefs I hold as a nearly life-long diabetic and member of online diabetes forums:

  1. Diabetes management is not fun, but should be
  2. Learning how to manage diabetes well is not easy enough
  3. Through community and working together we can achieve great things

I want glucolist to be the resource I wish I've had over the years, because my path to effective diabetes management has been slow and painful.

I also want glucolist to be an app where, together, we can make meaningful strides towards better diabetes care.

Imagine participating in weekly challenges with folks online where we collectively track our progress through our CGM data.

What if we could gammify diabetes? We have so much data, what if we could earn rewards, badges or recognition for having a good day, or a good week?

What if we could participate in challenges that push us to be better, as well as learn from our mistakes?

We have the technology to make this happen at our fingertips, and I, hopefully with your help, am going to build it.

Glucolist is an experiment which I hope will succeed and be used by dozens of diabetics. I hope I can fulfill the vision for glucolist that lives in my mind, and will be documenting my process through this blog- to serve as motivation for myself, but also to give you an inside look into what's going on behind the scenes.

If you read this- thanks! If you have ideas about glucolist you'd like to share, please leave some feedback.

Best, Patrick from glucolist
